Brief Biography

Jose Sanchez is a doctoral student whose research interests are gang dynamics not only in American society but internationally, juvenile delinquency and victimization, and program development and evaluation. Jose holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Criminal Justice from Cal State Los Angeles. During his Master’s program, Jose conducted a research project looking at juvenile gang affiliation, substance abuse, and gender across different world regions. He was also a research assistant with the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development. Current projects include working as an assistant with Dr. David Pyrooz on the Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver and a study involving gang legislation.
