The Program on International Development brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars from numerous social-science disciplines to study core aspects of economic and political development. Our studies focus on conditions and policies that raise material well-being and help countries resolve disputes. Our key emphasis is on developing countries, but we also research aspects of domestic underdevelopment in high-income societies, such as inequality and regional poverty. The program combines several cutting-edge methods for studying such critical cross-border issues as stresses on the environment, trade and financial agreements, governance structure and political participation, and military conflict.
Conducting collaborative and problem-driven research that seeks to inform decision making about human-environmental interactions at multiple levels of governance.
